The Wild Thing Step
Retooling the Wild Thing model for more solid and hollow surf. I took the wild thing put a round tail on it, pulled in the nose and the tail, added rocker in the nose and the tail, and put a single concave throughout the board. I also shape this model with slightly lowered and “softer” rails.
This board has been my go to when the waves get more solid and hollow. It actually features a slightly extended entry rocker which helps the board catch waves sooner and get up to speed quickly. The pulled in tail and lower rails helps this board have hold at speed. It has that same intuitive feeling that has made the Wild Thing such a great board. It has performed excellently for carving wide open solid waves as well. Hold when you need it but still has a lot of performance ability.
The Wild Thing step is a great choice for when the waves get more solid and you need just a little bit more board. Order this board 2-5” longer than your normal shortboard.
