The Pennington

The Pennington model was developed with Monterey underground charger Tommy Pennington. Tommy was looking for something that would be perform in solid overhead surf and handle big windy barrels up to the triple overhead range.

What we wound up building together is what I would describe as a “fun gun”. It has a flatter rocker than most step-ups, a wider nose and tail template, and slightly fuller rails. Wide point pulled forward and mellow concave help make this a more user friendly step-up. This board absolutely cooks in solid surf giving you as much speed as you could possibly need. It also has plenty of capability for pretty radical rail surfing. Tommy put on an absolute clinic in the tube and on the open face on this thing in the Winter of 2023/2024.

Available as both a shallow chop swallow or a round pin tail. Pretty versatile with how you can size it for yourself but generally want to order anywhere from 6”-20” longer than your normal shortboard. Stock dimensions below are for 12” longer than your shortboard sizing. Going a bit wider and thicker than you usually would for a step up.
